We took friday off to get an early start on camping, which was good in a way, because we knew we would have to get out a day early to get a site. Alberta campgrounds are notorious for poor information publishing - i.e. do not tell us if we can reserve a site, how to do so, and what happens if we don't reserve one. Anyhoo, we drove out at about 11 am, had brunch at the Nisku truck stop (a 'highway destination') and then drove down past Red Deer to our stop: Red Lodge provincial park.
Well, that park was full, as were all the other ones that we called on the way back north to Edmonton. It was very hot, and Chris was getting heat stroke. He was exhausted, and kinda crabby, as was I towards the end of it. We got back into the city, and we happened to stop at Ikea to check for any other AsIs rugs. No luck. Got back home, had a shower, and then unpacked what we had packed less than 6 hours earlier.
Because we were both kind of frustrated, I decided to take Chris out to dinner at a nice restaurant and take it easy. Had a fantastic dinner at the nice little Italian restaurant, and then walked around Whyte and checked out the surroundings of the Fringe festival. Not sure if there's any play that we really want to go see yet. Those kind of things are really hit or miss.
Saturday we started to clean and get the last major fixes to the houses done. Chris put up his antena and we went and FINALLY found a rug that we both liked at a decent price (60$!) for the living room. It's a lovely bamboo stick rug with a deep deep brown woven edge to it. I also got baskets for my socks and some sheets. Have not given up on the idea of baskets for all our linnens and pillows upstairs.
Oh, and we watched Head of State with Chris Rock which is a fantastic and hillarious movie.
Yesterday, Sunday, we finished cleaning the house, and had Dave and Ange over for dinner. It was a little thank you for them having helped us move. We then played Euchre, which was kinda fun.
Today, although it is Monday, I'm not going in to school - I'm going to do dishes, and do the work that I have put off for the last 3 weeks while I was studying and writing my exam.
No word yet on my grade - grrrr.
